MAMA slaat tijdens de Rotterdamse Museumnacht haar vleugels uit en bezet drie locaties in de Witte de Withstraat. Elk heel uur start in het hoekpand aan de overzijde (Home Hotel), een bijzondere en eenmalige filmvertoning en in het andere hoekpand (Gall & Gall) zet Antistrot de boel op stelten met hun Superminifeest. Beide events zijn exclusief en vol = vol!

Berlin / Brooklyn-based kunstenares Sue de Beer staat vooral bekend om haar fascinatie voor de compromisloze wereld van pubers, waarin pluche beesten, horror en geweld samengaan. Haar CV is indrukwekkend met o.a. de Whitney Biennale in 2004. Om onbegrijpelijke redenen is haar werk nog niet eerder in Nederland te zien geweest, maar MAMA heeft nu de Europese première van haar laatste film The Quickening.

The Quickening (2006) speelt zich af in het New England van de achttiende eeuw. Geïnspireerd door de Salem Witch rechtzaken en de duistere novelles van Nathaniel Hawthorne and J.K. Huysmans legt De Beer de roots bloot van het onderliggende geweld in puriteins Amerika.
De film draait om thema's als vrouwelijke seksualiteit, onderdrukking, zonde, angst en vervolging. Een heuse esthetische slasher-movie met Cobrakiller's prachtige Gina D'Orio in de hoofdrol van gekwelde heldin.

Superminifeest

Met hulp van de mc's Miho en De Koning van Zuid zullen de dj's Boonie (Antistrot), Frenk (Shifting Gears) en Basskowski een soort hiphouse proberen te creëren uit een combinatie van gepraat van de mc's en het draaien en mixen van (electronische) dansmuziek. Dit alles in het -vrij krapbemeten- MAMA Klaus Kleber Tuinhuis aka Antistrots Krebshundehok.

The Quickening

Brooklyn / Berlin based artist Sue de Beer, well-known for her fascination for a world without compromises, in which adolescents, stuffed animals and horror and violence come together.
Her CV is impressive, with a.o. the Whitney Biennal in 2004, so it's puzzling that her work could never been seen in The Netherlands before. But now Showroom MAMA brings you the European premiere of her latest movie The Quickening (2006).

The Quickening is set in the New England of the 18th century. Inspired by the Salem Witch trials and the dark novels by Nathaniel Hawthorne and J.K. Huysmans, De Beer reveals the roots of the underlying violence in puritan America.
The movie is revolving around themes as female sexuality, repression, sin, fear and persecution. It's a true aesthetic slasher-movie with Cobrakiller's stunning Gina D'Orio in the leading role of tormented heroin.
